The first nugget of funding for a trail that will connect Traverse City to Charlevoix was received by the TART Trails organization this week.

That $2.4 million check came from the state of Michigan as part of a push to cover the state with an interconnected web of non-motorized trails. In all, the 46-mile section of trail will cost $30 million.
