The Little Traverse Wheelway ends before it gets to Charlevoix, so the City of Charlevoix and Top of Michigan Trails Council are working on plans to change that. The conceptual planning phase for a separated trail connecting the south end of the Little Traverse Wheelway and downtown Charlevoix are wrapping up and project partners are preparing for the design engineering work ahead.
TART Trails and TOMTC have provided project support for design of the Connector. This section of trail is critical to the Nakwema Trailway and its vision of non-motorized connectivity in the region, linking the current terminus of the Wheelway to and through Charlevoix to the northernmost segment of Nakwema. Stay tuned as this project progresses.
